Today Bluesfest announced its 3^rd sensational Line-Up for 2013!

Headlining this announcement is ROBERT PLANT, the legendary front man of the LedZeppelin, presenting Sensational Shape Shifters.

Led Zeppelin came to Australia in 1972 and a Robert Plant Tour of Australia has been long awaited by his fans. He last toured in 1996 with Jimmy Page. Plant was voted in the Rolling Stone Readers Pick in 2011, ‘The Best Lead Singer of All Time’. Even greater is the news that he has been performing 8 Led Zeppelin songs on stage on his current South American Tour. Now the wait is finally over –
Robert Plant is coming to our shores and will headline Bluesfest on Saturday 30^thof March.

Other outstanding artists in the 3^rd announcement include Roger Hodgson – The Legendary Voice of Supertramp, 70’s rock band Status Quo, former lead singer of the band YES, Jon Anderson, as well as England’s Ska/Punk/Soul/Pop heroes – Madness.

Justin Bieber sued by man who claims he stole his credit card to pay for penis enlargement

Justin Bieber is being sued by a man who claims that the pop star stole his credit card and used it to buy himself penis enlargement surgery.

The man from Michigan who has filed the lawsuit also claims to be the father of the singer and actress Selena Gomez, who is Bieber’s girlfriend.

TMZ reports that the lawsuit contains a host of other farfetched allegations, including claims that Usher sodomised the unnamed Michigan man with a firework whilst playing Katy Perry’s song ‘Firework’.

The lawsuit also alleges that Bieber bought cocaine for him and P Diddy with the stolen credit card, and that Bieber is cheating on Gomez with Ke$ha, Rihanna and actress Penelope Cruz.

The suit – via TMZ – alleges that: “Bieber has cost me $426.78 and never paid me back. This money was used as abortion money because Justin Bieber got my daughter Selena pregnant in my bedroom, on my canadian bear rug.”

It continues: “Usher Raymond came to my house on the forth of july 2012 and sodomized me with a firework and lit it inside my anal area while blaring kate perry [sic] firework song in my ear drums.”

The man claims that Bieber “gave selena a std and Bieber stole my credit card to buy him and sean p-ditty [sic] combs cocaine to use in drug free school zones… Bieber also got a penis enlargement with my stolen american express card. “

James Blunt quits music industry

James Blunt has called time on his musical career, saying he wants to “take more time for himself”.

Blunt, 38, sold 11m copies of his breathrough album ‘Back To Bedlam’ in 2005 aided by the worldwide hit ‘You’re Beautiful’. However, it seems that the former Queen’s guard, who saw action in Kosovo, has no interest in maintaining his career as a musician and recently told The Daily Mail that he has no further plans to write music. Speaking to a reporter from the paper, Blunt said:

“I just want to take some time out for myself. I haven’t got any plans to do more songwriting. I have been chilling out since I finished my world tour and I’ve spent a lot of time in Ibiza, where I have a villa.”

Blunt’s most recent album, ‘Some Kind Of Trouble’, was released in 2010.

The singer last hit the headlines in January when his mother defended him from the criticism he often receives for being posh, saying that the music industry was “snobbish”.

“I was most interested to hear Pete Waterman’s thoughts on public school rock stars,” Jane Blount said in an email to Radio 4. “His attitude is reflected by most of the critics in the UK. My son James Blunt, who is hugely appreciated worldwide, receives harsh criticism here and we have, rather sadly, been aware that it is because of his background.”

Rolling Stones to bring 50th anniversary tour to Australia

Mick Jagger has suggested that The Rolling Stones’ 50th anniversary shows this year will not be their last, and has said he’d love to take the band to Australia.

Asked on the red carpet at the premiere of new Stones documentary Crossfire Hurricane in London on Friday evening (October 18) if they would be heading Down Under, Jagger said: “Not this week! We’re going to go and rehearse this week but I hope to go to Australia. I haven’t been there in years.”

On the subject of preparations for the upcoming dates in London and New Jersey (which are co promoted by Sir Richard Branson and Australian entrepreneur Paul Dainty), the iconic singer added: “Rehearsals are going really well. We’ve done loads of songs, we’re playing well and everyone’s sounding good.”

Crossfire Hurricane charts the rise of the band through extensive use of archive footage. Jagger said of the band’s ongoing success: “Well, it helps to be alive! We’re still working and putting out records and all that sort of thing.” Asked if he remembers the early days more vividly than recent times, Jagger smiled: “I remember everything, darling.”

The frontman will join his bandmates for two nights at London’s O2 Arena on November 25 and 29 to celebrate the Stones’ 50th anniversary. They will also be playing two nights at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey in the US on December 13 and 15.

All 30,000 tickets for the two dates at London’s 02 Arena were snapped up immediately they went on sale yesterday morning.

George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic to headline Golden Plains 7 + lineup update

With the full lineup to be announced this Tuesday the 23rd of October for next years Golden Plains 7 and with Catpower already booked to play at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre event, today the festivals organizers have let slip that one of the most important musical minds in the world and the absolute king of funk, Mr. George Clinton will also be playing the festival.

The mastermind who fused the groove with the psych and the funk with the rock will front his legendary outfit Parliament Funkadelic on the main stage to close out the the Sunday night festivities.

Die Antwoord unveil Gaga ‘piss take’ video for Fatty Boom Boom

After unveiling a trailer last week, Die Antwoord have upped the ante in their run of crazy videos with the highly entertaining visuals for
“Fatty Boom Boom.” The clip begins with a Lady Gaga lookalike getting a typical South African tourist tour before she stumbles upon the Zef Crew as well as a number of rather untimely mishaps and a unfortunate end. The Lady Gaga reference is more than just comical, with the Die Antwoord previously stating that their former label, Interscope approached them to open on tour for Lady Gaga. An offer they declined, saying, “um, no don’t worry about it, no thanks.” Ninja further qualified the decision, commenting: “We like making pop music, but we like making hardcore music at the same time, mixing them, but they’ve got, like, soul. It’s not like weak, superficial shit. You know?” The video features some
crazy visuals, as you would expect from the out there South African collective!
After seeing the video, Gaga fired two Tweets at the band, which you can read below:

i guess its not a good idea to tell someone you’re a fan. never mind! we get it, you’re not a little monster. WE GOT IT.

Die Antwoord responded to the singer’s thinly-veiled criticism, meanwhile, by writing: “lady… even tho u r ‘larger’ than us… we still cooler than u… plus we don’t have prawns in our private.”

Main Attrakionz hail from the west coast of the US – north Oakland, to be precise – so you can forgive them for sounding somewhat laid-back. In fact, the hip-hop duo are one of the main proponents of cloud rap – that hazy, drugged-out production-style that’s been working wonders for the likes of A$AP Rocky of late.

Bossalinis & Fooliyones is the pair’s debut album (following on from the 808s and Dark Grapes II mixtape), and in the main develops their trademark sound.

SlipKnot frontman Corey Taylor’s side-project Stone Sour have posted a new track from their soon to be released fourth album ‘House Of Gold & Bones, Part One’, – and you can listen to it here.

The track entitled ‘R U 486′ is the second track ‘leaked’ from the new album.

HOG & B’s is the first half a double album, with the next part, ‘House Of Gold & Bones, Part 2′, set for release in March 2013. The covers of each CD digipack will fold out and both lock together to form a mini house.

Guitarist Josh Rand says:

“House of Gold & Bones’ takes everything that’s great about this band and amplifies it. The riffs, the lyrics, the grooves and the songs are like Stone Sour times ten. There’s also heavy stuff that’s like nothing we’ve ever done before – it’s dark as hell and a complete experience from the first track to the last.”

The album was recorded at Sound Farm Studios, just outside of their native Des Moines, Iowa with producer David Bottrill (Tool, Muse, Staind). Corey Taylor, wrote the lyrics for the 24 tracks as a linear storyline that will also be picked up on in a four-part graphic novel series to be released in early 2013.

2012 Independent Music Award winners

The 2012 Jagermeister Independent Music Awards took place last night and as with recent years punters have again questioned what is really ment by independent.

On accepting yet another award for his highly successful sophomore album ‘Falling & Flying’, rapper 360 said, “This doesn’t feel right, but at the same time I’m feeling honoured.”

360 (aka Matt Colwell) was, referring, to his association with EMI, who distributes his records in partnership with his own label, Soulmate. It once again reiterated just how blurred the line is becoming between “indie” and “major”. AIR – the organisation that runs these awards – defines an independent label as a company that is 100 percent Australian, owns the master rights for recorded music and “exploits” it for commercial gain.)

Earlier in the night, a heckler yelled out “not independent” when Lanie Lane went up to accept her award for Best Independent Blues and Roots Album. Her debut album To The Horses was put out through The Ivy League, which despite being distributed through Universal, conforms to AIR’s guidelines.

Blink 182 announce sidewave dates

Blink 182 have announced their Soundwave sideshows.

Following on from two false start announcements early this month Tom, Mark and Travis have revealed they will play additional shows at Allphones Arena in Sydney on February 20, The Marquee in Brisbane on February 22 and the Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne on February 26.

Already confirmed as headliners alongside Metallica and Slayer at Soundwave Festival next year these will be the first gigs that Blink have played in Australia since 2004.

Tickets are on sale today.
