Blink-182 who have been confirmed to take part in next year’s Soundwave Festival, will have Travis Barker in the band.
The drummer had previously said that the trio would have to tour Australia without him as he is still struggling with a phobia of flying as a result of the 2008 plane crash he endured but he now appears to have changed his mind.
He previously said: “It’s hard to say what the band could do or what its potential is, because I can’t really get everywhere.” He did add though that he hoped to overcome his phobia for the sake of his children, adding: “I’m contemplating getting knocked out and getting on a plane to Australia. I want to overcome that eventually. My kids are scared to death to fly. I want them to witness me overcome it.”
However, when promoter of Soundwave A.J Maddah announced that the pop-punk trio would be taking part in 2013 festival, he moved quickly to assure ticket buyers that Barker would be making the trip, tweeting: “Mark+Tom+Travis. Yes Travis.”
Barker was on board a learjet in September 2008 which crashed during take off, after flight controllers reported seeing sparks eminating from the plane’s engines, the event killed 4 of the 6 people on board, he sustained serious burns from the accident.
Earlier this year, the band revealed they’re already working on the follow-up to the album, with frontman Mark Hoppus stating he’d been writing new songs while Tom DeLonge has been out on the road with his side-project Angels And Airwaves.
