Tame Impala have announced they have finished putting the final touches to their as yet untitled second full-length studio album.

The band recently posted an update on their official Facebook page, which promises that they would be unveiling the first new material from the follow-up to their 2010 triple j Album of the Year debut album ‘Innerspeaker’ later this month.

They wrote: “Oh I didn’t realise it was June, I was meant to tell you this is the month you get to hear new Tame Impala music!”

The album which was recorded in Paris after frontman Kevin Parker packed up his Perth home studio and relocated it to the French capitol, will be released in October.

The band play Splendour In The Grass on July 28 followed by an appearance at Chicago’s iconic Lollapalooza festival in August.

A number of members of Tame Impala are currently playing side project Pond, who NME recently named as the hottest new band in the world.

Speaking to NME about how Pond fit in alongside Tame Impala, drummer Jay Watson said: “I don’t see any reason why we can’t co-exist, we’ve been doing it for years anyway. We’re both really different bands.”
