If you missed out on tickets for the The xx’s upcoming sold out tour, don’t despair; stepping away from his band collaborators, Jamie xx has announced 2 solo performances neatly snuggled in between The xx shows, one each in Sydney and Melbourne.

Jamie xx (real name Jamie Smith) will be leaving his band mates Oliver Sim and Romy Madley Croft as he steps out to play two intimate club dates that will no doubt  sell out just as fast as the band shows, so be quick!!

Jamie xx solo shows:
Tuesday 17th July – New Guernica, Melbourne
Thursday 19th July – Goodgod Small Club, Sydney

In the past two years Jamie xx has remixed or collaborated with amongst others, Gil Scott-Heron, Rihanna, Adele, Radiohead, and Florence and The Machine. Check out his work with legendery soul, jazz & blues fusionist the late Gil Scott-Heron.

Meanwhile The xx will release their sophomore album ‘Coexist’, the follow-up to their 2010 Mercury Prize winning self titled album on September 10.

Discussing the sound of the album, Jamie xx  said: “We’ve all come back off tour and been partying a bit more. We left when we were 17 and we missed out on that chunk of our lives when everyone else was partying. Club music has definitely had an influence on the next record.”
