The track, which is released as a single next week, has been written as the soundtrack to a new UK theme park rollercoaster ride also called The Swarm.
The band’s guitarist Max Helyer previously told NME that the track was inspired by the ride’s focus on the end of the world and fitted in with the rollercoaster’s apocalyptic themes.
He said of this: “It’s basically about the end of the world and the ride is full of near misses and loads of near hits. It’s the tallest winged rollercoaster in Europe and Thorpe Park (the operators) told us it was going to be very scary, so we decided we’d rock it up a little bit more, make it a bit more heavier and a bit hairier. It’s a bit like ‘Bite My Tongue’, but without screaming. It’s a massive epic rock song, it’s definitely got aggression, and it’s definitely got edge.”
The band recorded the track with Foo Fighters/Pixies producer Gil Norton and Helyer also revealed that the band had begun working on new material during the sessions for ‘The Swarm’.
