Omar Rodriguez-Lopez has said in an interview with Kerrang!, that there is no chance of At The Drive-In recording a new album.
The band announced earlier this year that they had reunited and will play festival slots at Spain’s Benicassim and the US Coachella Festivals. There had been rumours that they would be recording new material, but Rodriguez-Lopez has appeared to have ruled this out.
The guitarist has described the reunion as a pure “nostalgia thing” and says it’s like “an old T-shirt that doesn’t fit any more”.
In the interview, the guitarist responded to a question about whether the band would be recording a new album by saying:
“Will there be a new album? No, no, no. At The Drive-In is more of a nostalgia thing – it’s songs we wrote when we were all in our 20s and we’re doing a couple of shows.”
He continued: “It’s an old T-shirt that doesn’t fit me any more, but when you put it on again, it feels nice. It’s as simple as that.”
Meanwhile Lopez’s other band The Mars Volta are set to release their sixth studio LP ‘Noctourniquet’ in March.
